Keep Cursor's usage buckets separate
Cursor accounts can expose several kinds of usage. When an Auto percentage is available, the ring follows that allowance. The hover panel can show API usage as a separate window and metered on-demand spending where Cursor reports a usable spending limit.
These are account allowance readings, not a count of every editor request. The tracker does not blend Auto and API percentages into one total, because that would hide which bucket you are using.
Team and enterprise readings depend on the account
Some accounts report an included spending ceiling instead of Auto percentages. The app can use that ceiling for the ring and show metered team on-demand usage when available. An unlimited or unmetered account may have no percentage to display.
Connect the account signed in to Cursor
- Build and open AI Usage Tracker on a Mac running macOS 15 or later.
- Open Cursor and sign in to the editor account you want to monitor.
- Enable Cursor in AI Usage Tracker's Settings. Hover the ring to check which usage buckets the account reports.
The app uses the editor's existing local session. If that source is unavailable, it can use the Cursor agent sign-in stored in the macOS keychain. You do not need to create a separate Cursor account inside the tracker.
If your readings belong to an unexpected account, check the editor and agent sign-ins on the Mac. Renew an expired session in the tool that owns it, then let AI Usage Tracker fetch the usage again.
Check the billing-cycle reset
Cursor readings use the billing-cycle start and end returned by the account. The cycle end supplies the reset time for the available usage windows. Cursor's plan usage is not presented as Claude's session and weekly allowance system.
If Cursor supplies neither a percentage nor a usable spending ceiling, the tracker shows that there is nothing to meter instead of treating a missing limit as zero usage. The available rows can change with your account and Cursor's response.
Questions about Cursor tracking
Why is Auto usage different from API usage?
Cursor reports them as separate allowance buckets. The main ring uses Auto when available, while the hover panel can show the separate API percentage. A blended total would not explain which allowance is being used.
Does the tracker support every Cursor plan?
The integration reads the fields the connected account returns, including Auto percentages and certain included or on-demand spending ceilings. Not every plan exposes the same fields, and an unmetered account may have no percentage.
Do I need a separate API key?
For this Cursor integration, the app uses a compatible editor session or Cursor agent sign-in already on your Mac. If that session expires, sign in again through Cursor rather than creating another account in AI Usage Tracker.
