See Codex account limits, not just local tokens
The app reads Codex's account usage response through your existing local sign-in. It shows the five-hour and weekly windows when the account exposes them. The main ring follows the primary allowance; the hover panel keeps the other windows visible.
Additional limits, such as separate model or code-review windows, may appear for accounts that expose them and have extra limits enabled in Settings. They stay separate from the primary account allowance.
Account limits answer a different question from local token totals: how much of the reported allowance has been used, and when it is due to reset. Available Codex activity indicators also show whether a session is working or waiting for attention.
Use your existing Codex sign-in
- Build and open AI Usage Tracker on macOS 15 or later.
- Sign in to Codex with the ChatGPT account you want to monitor.
- Enable Codex in AI Usage Tracker's Settings, then hover the ring to inspect the reported allowance windows.
The integration needs a compatible local Codex session. An API-key-only login does not provide these ChatGPT account allowances. If a session expires, renew it through Codex; AI Usage Tracker reads the session without refreshing or writing its credentials.
Monitor more than one Codex account
The default profile and used ~/.codex-<name> profiles can appear as separate rings. Additional profiles need a file-backed Codex CLI sign-in in their own directory. Restart AI Usage Tracker after adding one, and run that account's sessions against the same profile directory.
Each discovered account has its own usage, activity, and Settings row. Switching a ring off forgets its tracker readings while leaving the account signed in to Codex.
Follow the reset for the window you used
A primary allowance and a weekly allowance can reset at different times. The hover panel shows the timestamp for each window returned by Codex. Reset notifications follow the app's observed usage changes and your notification preferences.
Looking for Tibo's public global reset announcements? Use the free Codex reset tracker to follow those posts and set a personal countdown.
If Codex temporarily refuses usage requests, the tracker waits before retrying. A delayed reading does not mean the allowance is empty or that the account has been signed out.
Questions about Codex tracking
Does this track all ChatGPT message usage?
This page covers Codex account allowances returned through a Codex sign-in. It does not promise a combined meter for every ChatGPT product or message limit.
Can I use a Codex API key for these readings?
An API-key-only login cannot supply the ChatGPT account allowance windows described here. Use a compatible Codex sign-in for the account whose limits you want to monitor.
Why does my additional account not appear?
Check that the profile uses the ~/.codex-<name> directory convention and has a file-backed CLI sign-in. Keychain-only profiles are not discovered through that file. Restart AI Usage Tracker after creating the profile.
